Now they don't give coverage at all without SSN. They've covered my family for many years, but now they're saying because of federal mandates, they cannot provide coverage anymore without SSNs. Obviously, most people have no idea how such rules affect and to so many people. I'm at a loss as what to do, as they don't even give enough time, just few days and it it's terminated.

Hi Gopinadh,

Thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right about BCBS. They are one of the few who continue to offer maternity coverage. I'm sorry to say but you will be unable to obtain coverage through them. There are other carriers that will offer coverage with an H4 visa. Perhaps we could look at an HSA (health savings account) to help offset the maternity costs. Lets talk further. You can reach us at 888.320.5388.

Hi,
I am on H1-B visa. My wife is on a dependent visa (H4). I have SSN. But, she doesn't. I have been trying to get maternity insurance for my wife. It seems, in Michigan, only BCBS provides maternity insurance. And they are denying it because of not having SSN for her. My employer doesn't have a group insurance because there are not many participants & whenever he tries to get one from any agent, they are quoting this as the reason & not providing us with any insurance.
I am wondering if you could help us with this issue. Do you have any suggestions about what insurance to take or whom to approach?

Thanks..
