Good news parents!
The health care reform legislation extends coverge to adult children up to their 26th birthdays under their parents’ policies.
Now you’re wondering WHEN can you put your kids back on your insurance plan?
As of now the mandate to extend coverage to adult children is set for September 2010.
There is a push right now to force insurance companies to extend that coverage sooner than the mandate. Perhaps as soon as June or July.
Why? Because there will be a gap for those graduating college in the upcoming months.
If you have a college student graduating in the next month or so, it may be wise to put them on a short term health insurance policy to get them through the gap. They are inexpensive and just as reliable as a major medical plan. Get a quote below.
