<p><a title="Preexisting conditions kids" href="http://mymichiganhealth.com/pre-existing-conditions-for-kids-no-longer-a-roadblock-to-health-insurance/">Pre-existing conditions</a> are covered under the MIChild program.  It is important to note that previous medical bills are not covered.</p>
<p>If parent are divorced and have joint custody, the parent the children live with the majority of the time should apply.  The income of the other parent is not taken in to consideration when applying.  NOTE:  MIChild cannot be used as a substitute for court ordered health insurance.</p>
<p><strong>A brief summary of MIChild:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Health and dental care for children age 18 and under</li>
<li>MIChild premiums are $10 per family per month</li>
<li>Administered by the Michigan Department of Community Health (DCH)</li>

<p>Even in the great state of Michigan.  With <a href="http://mymichiganhealth.com/michild-health-insurance-michigan/">MIChild</a>, Medicaid, HealthyChild, and even the guaranteed issue BCBS of Michigan; you still have to pay something.  Unfortunately for those interested, there is no free health insurance.</p>

<p>Ultimately you need to apply, which takes about 15 minutes.  MIChild will review completed applications within 10 days from the date a complete application is received, and make a recommendation of eligibility to Michigan Department of Community Health.</p>
